On Sunday, September 23rd, we celebrated the northside revitalization with over 100 members of the local community. Attendees mingled over refreshments and live music while listening to District 2 Supervisor Catherine Stefani, SF Recreation & Parks General Manager Phil Ginsburg, and Park Commissioners Kat Anderson and Allan Low. We were also joined by Abigail Maher, SF Recreation & Parks Deputy Director of Park Partnerships and Beverly Ng, SF Recreation & Parks Deputy Directory of Policy and Public Affairs. The event was featured in a number of media outlets including The SF Chronicle, The New Fillmore and Hoodline.
A special thank you to our event sponsor, SF Recreation & Parks as well as our event donors, Peet’s Coffee on Fillmore, Trader Joe’s, Jane Bakery, Waldorf Elementary School and Recology.
Alta Plaza Park reopened on Friday, August 31st!
Ultimately, at the end of this project we will have: a new irrigation system, perimeter French drains, new sod, bike racks, a new pathway at the Washington St. entrance, a new pathway at the Jackson St. and Pierce St. entrance, a donor recognition site, six new benches and new entrance plantings.
If you haven't made it over to the park lately, progress is happening! The French drains have been installed to prevent perimeter wall leaks, new sod has been laid and the Washington & Scott pathway is almost complete. Come by and check it out!
